Sixth Article in 90 Days of Praise Series

Praise God for all the wonderful victories He has given Stones River Baptist.   Our history is full of so many marvelous events that it is almost impossible to choose which are of the greatest significance.   One of the most noteworthy blessings God has given this special congregation, is the fact that the impact of this church's ministry has truly been felt throughout the world.   This is due in large part to our membership from 1952 through 1973 being composed of active duty military and their families.

If we were to take a map of the United States, or even the world, and place pins everywhere members of this fellowship of believers have served Jesus following their service at Stones River, we would realize immediately that this small congregation truly has taken to heart Acts 1, Verse 8:  "....and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."   For you see, our members are witnesses throughout the world today.   This fact is found in church minutes dated September 24 1961, as it says a special business meeting was called for the purpose of granting a letter for Mr. & Mrs. James Parks, so that they might organize a Baptist church at their duty station overseas.   There are several other references in the minutes that reflect the work and the witness of our members in overseas theaters of operations.

Thus, I praise God that He has not only used the faithful families of this fellowship to spread the good news here in Smyrna, and throughout Rutherford County, but God has literally extended the reach of this church to the far corners of the earth, as our members have shared the Gospel wherever they were sent.   To God be the glory.   Great things He has done, but what He has done is nothing compared to what He is about to do through the ministry we share together.   Join me in celebrating God's blessings as we extend His witness to everyone we meet and in every place we go, even unto the ends of the earth.
