Finally the day we have planned for has arrived, and what a glorious day it is!. I have been blessed to share some of the rich history of this dear church with you for the past 90 days and I am honored to have been given the joy of being your pastor for this once in a lifetime experience.
Allow me to thank Reverend James Growden, pastor from 1978-1981, and Reverend Barney Rickman, pastor from 1982-1988, and their dear wives, because of their faithfulness the kingdom of God has been enlarged. Also, allow me to thank the members of the 50th Anniversary Notification Committee, Memorabilia Committee, Time Capsule Committee, and Kitchen Committee for their long hours of devoted service which has made the events of this day so meaningful..
To the special lady in my life, I extend a special thank you. If not for Sara, and her faithfulness to support the ministry of her pastor-husband, through the good and not so good times, I would never have been able to spend the time required over the past year making sure everything was planned and orchestrated perfectly for this special moment in our history.
To each member of our congregation, I thank you from the depths of my heart for your cooperation in getting historical items together for the time capsule, to be opened the first Sunday of October, 2052. Allow me to apologize upfront because I know I will inadvertantly and certainly unintentionally leave some special person out. Please forgive the oversight, and know that I love you and will be forever grateful for your devotion and faithfulness to this dear church family, but most of all, for your commitment to increasing the kingdom of God. Now please join me as we look forard to the next 50 years of ministry. I won't be here, nor will many of you, but as I look down from heaven on that special day in 2052, I will be just as proud of this church as I am today. I love each of you.
